One of the main missions of CCCS is EDUCATIONCredit counselors, bankruptcy attorneys, loan officers, car dealers and others tell story after story of individuals who are drowning in debt. These people complain bitterly that they never would have found themselves in the mess they are in if only someone had warned them of the potential problems or educated them in the ways of proper financial management. In a recent survey, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling found that 41% of adults gave themselves a failing grade on their knowledge of personal finance. The CCCS Education Department is dedicated to providing quality education on a variety of financial topics and works closely with local non-profit agencies, schools, churches, businesses and other organizations to achieve this goal. Some of the workshops and classes that we offer:
Most schools do not require money management courses for their students to graduate. Since students are not learning these important life skills in school, many young people graduate without the skills they need to be financially independent, responsible and successful adults. CCCS partners with groups like Learning for Life, Junior Achievement and Parent Univeristy to help prepare youth for a successful future. Financially troubled employees are absent more than others and two-thirds of employees deal with financial matters at work. According to Professor Thomas Garmen from Virginia Tech University, “It's smart business to provide employees access to credit education information that enables them to improve their financial behaviors and well-being because financially well employees are the employer's very best employees.” Whether you need a quick Lunch-and-Learn session or a more in-depth presentation, let us help educate your employees on positive financial practices.
